The National Monuments Service's description

Located just above a break in slope on the S-facing spine of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 42.5m NW-SE; 37m NE-SW) that slopes down to the SE defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 5.6m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.2m) and hedge, which is reduced to a scarp (at SE: Wth 3m; H 1.5m) E-S. There is no visible fosse, but there are entrances at NE (Wth of base 0.8m), SE (Wth of base 1.4m) and SSW (Wth of base c. 1m), all probably modern.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
