The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a gentle SW-facing slope in a low-lying landscape, with a redundant loop of the old Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road c. 30m to the NW. This is an oval, straight-sided glacial erratic (dims 3.6m NE-SW; 2.4m NW-SE; T 0.6-1m) sitting on the surface of a pasture field with some small field stones beneath its edges. The lower, W and S edges are straight and a fragment (L 1.8m; Wth 0.2-0.6m; D 0.2m) is missing from the upper surface on the S, which creates a shelf that could serve as an altar (H 1.4m). Three whitethorn trees are growing around this side of the rock, but some loose stones in the vicinity that were uses as kneelers (Ó Gallachair 1957, 115) are no longer present.
