The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the E end of a W-E undulating ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 40m NE-SW; 37m NW-SE) that slopes down (H 3.2m) to the NE. It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4.4-6.5m; int. H 0.8-1m; ext. H 1.8-2m), with an outer fosse (at SW: Wth of top 6.6m; Wth of base 2.5m; ext. D 0.6m), which has largely been re-cut as a drain (at NE: Wth of top 2m; D 0.7m). There is an entrance (Wth of base 2m) and causeway (Wth of top 2.2m; H 0.5m) at E.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
