The National Monuments Service's description
Located in a fold towards the bottom of a S-facing slope and c. 200m N of the NW angle of Moylan Lough. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. 41m NNW-SSE) that slopes down to the S. It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at NW: Wth 7.6m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.1m) separated by a flat-bottomed fosse (at NW: Wth of top 7.6m; Wth of base 2.4m; ext. D 1m) from an outer bank (at NW: Wth of base 5.2m; ext. H 0.8m) and outer fosse (at NW: Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.3m). The outer bank is incorporated in a field bank NE-SE, and an E-W road truncates all these features at S. A gap (Wth of base 2.2m) in the inner bank at SE is probably the original entrance. Rath (MO028-074----) is c. 60m to the S.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
