The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a slight NW-SE rise in a low-lying landscape with a small NW-SE stream c. 60m to the SW. It is depicted as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) with a NE-SW lane skirting the perimeter at SE and described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’ only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. There is no visible archaeological feature at ground level in pasture but a NE-SW field bank is just to the SE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
