The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the SE end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a circular area (diam. 28m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (at SE: Wth 4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 2.6m) N-SE and a complete outer fosse (at SE: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 2m; ext. D 0.7m), with a counterscarp bank (at SE: Wth 7m; ext. H 2m) that runs into the natural scope surviving N-SE. It is cut SW of the centre by a NW-SE farm lane, and it is grass-covered NE of this feature and overgrown SW of it

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
