The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a shelf at the bottom of the S-facing slope of a drumlin and on the NE bank of a small NW-SE stream. This is an overgrown subcircular area (dims 35m NW-SE; 31.3m NE-SW) that slopes down to the SW (H 2.4m). It is defined by an earthen bank (at NE: 4.2m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.2m) NW-NE which is reduced to a scarp that is greatest at SW (H 3.7m; Wth 7.5m) and probably incorporates some natural slope. There are entrance gaps in the perimeter at N (Wth 2.4m) and NE (Wth 1.8m), but the original entrance is not identified.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
