The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a shelf just off the crest of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 30.6m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 3.8-4.4m; int. H 0.5-0.8m; ext. H 2.3-2.6m), with an outer water-logged or flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 5.4-6.2m; Wth of base 2-2.5m; ext. D 0.8-1.4m) that survives complete, except NW-NE where there is a farm road. There are breaks in the bank at SW and NW, and a modernised entrance (Wth of base 1.7m) at NE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
