The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the NW end of a NW-SE ridge. This is a raised oval grass-covered area (diam. 33m NW-SE; 26m NE-SW) defined by a slight earthen bank best preserved (Wth of base 5.8m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.5m) NW-N, and an outer scarp (at SW: H 2m; at NE: H 2.7m; at SE: H 0.7m) and hedge elsewhere. There is an outer berm (Wth 1.2m) separating the base of the bank from an outer NE-SW field bank (Wth 2m; H 0.3-0.9m ext. H 0.3-1.2m) at NW and a berm (Wth 3m) between the bank and a NE-SW field bank (Wth c. 6m; H 1.2-1.6m) at SE. The original entrance is not identified.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
