The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a rise at the centre of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. 32.6m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by a small earth and stone bank that is best preserved at S (Wth of base 3.2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.9m) and incorporated into a field bank W-N-E. There is no visible fosse and the original entrance is not identified. There is a subrectangular house site (ext. dims 7.1m NW-SE; 6.6m NE-SW) defined by earthen banks (Wth 1.35m; max. H 0.35m) inside the perimeter at N, with an entrance at the W end of the NW side. This entrance is connected to a gap in the perimeter of the rath at NW by a passage (L 5.3m; Wth 2.5m), which is defined by two earthen banks (Wth 2m; H 0.1-0.3m).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
