The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the E end of an E-W drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 34.6m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 6-6.5m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H 1.4-2.1m) with some bushes and trees separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 5.3-6m; ext. D 0.6-1.4m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 4.6-5m; ext. H 0.6-1.1m) that has an outer stone facing. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 1.5m) bank and a causeway (Wth of top 4.1m) H 1.4m) is at SSE, but there is no opening at this point in the outer bank

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
