The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the summit of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This was described in 1968 as an oval grass-covered area (dims 35m NNW-SSE; 26.5m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (at NE: Wth of base 4.5m; Wth of top 1.5m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.6m) with an outer stone facing that was planted with trees, and an outer drain S-NNW. There was no visible fosse and the original entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) was at SE. The bank had been removed NNW-SE and it had been incorporated into a field bank and hedge elsewhere by 2000 (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
