The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the S end of a short NW-SE drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure with trees on the perimeter is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’, and it is depicted as an arc of hachures (Chord c. 30m NE-SW) on the NW side of a NE-SW field bank on the 1907 edition. This NW segment was extant as a grass and scrub-covered platform in 1967 (diam. 26.5m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (at N: Wth 1.85m; H 1.3m). A farm track had been laid over the W quadrant by 2000 (OSAP).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
