The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in a slight col on the ridge of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a subrectangular grass-covered area (dims 18.5m NNE-SSW; 17m E-W) with rock outcrop defined by stone banks (at E: Wth of base 2.5m; Wth of top 0.9m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.7m) on the E and S sides, and a rock outcrop scarp at W (H 1m) and N (H c. 2m) on the others. There is no visible fosse and an entrance is not identified.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
