The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a NW-SE drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic script as a ‘fort’. It was known locally as ‘Rathrim fort’ and was removed c. 1870 (IFC; Schools Mss. Vol . 941, 305), for which see this web-page accessed on 04/05/2018: https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes It is visible a slightly raised grass-covered platform (diam. 25.5m N-S; 24.5m E-W) defined by a slight scarp (H c. 0.2m).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
