The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a small NE-SW spur. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 41.5m E-W; 39.5m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank and outer fosse. The entrance (Wth of base 2.6m) is at SE but there is no causeway. A NW-SE field bank skirts the outer edge of the fosse NE-E.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
