The National Monuments Service's description
Located on the NW tip of a SE-NW spur. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 38.5m NNW-SSE; 34.5m ENE-WSW) with a NNW-SSE exposed rib of rock outcrop in the interior. The rath is defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 6.4m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.9m) with some bushes separated by a berm (at N: Wth 4.5m; at SW: Wth 1.3m) from an outer earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 2.5m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 1.1m) that is missing W-NNW where the slope is very steep. There is an entrance through the inner (Wth of base 2.5m) and outer (Wth of base 2.2m) banks at ESE along the spur
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
