The National Monuments Service's description
Located on top of a drumlin. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 48m ENE-WSW; 47m NNW-SSE) that had been planted with trees, the stumps of which remain. It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank that is most massive E-S and an outer fosse. There is a large entrance (Wth of base 4.3m) at ENE, but no causeway as the fosse is probably re-cut.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
