The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the bottom of a SE-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 46m N-S; 42m E-W) that slopes down to the S, and its N part is completely overgrown. It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 4.1m; Wth of top 1.2m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.45m) NW-E that is largely reduced to an external scarp elsewhere. There is an outer fosse (at NNW: Wth of top 3m; Wth of base 1.5m; ext. D 1.2m) SW-N-ESE which is replaced by a farm lane ESE-SW. The widened entrance (Wth of base 3m) is at SSE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
