The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a rise towards the N end of a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 28.5m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by a slight but overgrown earthen bank NW-NNE and SSE-S that is largely reduced to an overgrown scarp (at W: H 1.9m), with an external stone facing NW-N and traces of an external fosse. The original entrance is not identified.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
