The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the summit at the W end of an E-W drumlin ridge. This is a circular, overgrown area (diam. 37m NNE-SSE; c. 35m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base c. 5m; int. H c. 1m; ext. H c. 2m) that is reduced to a scarp SW-NW, and traces of a shallow fosse SE-W-NE. The outer face of the bank has traces of stone-facing. There is a widened entrance (Wth of base 3.4m) at E.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
