The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a gentle S-facing slope at the top of a NE-SW drumlin ridge with a small NE-SW canalised stream c. 110m to the SE. This is an oval grass and scrub-covered area (dims 34m NE-SW; 27m NW-SE) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 2.5m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.65m) with traces of internal and external stone-facing, but evidence of a fosse (Wth 1.5m; ext. D 0.5m) at N that was present in the 1940s (SMR file) was not noted in 1968. There is a quarry (Wth of base 3.2m) on the perimeter at NW but the entrance (Wth of base 1.9m) is at WSW. The scrub had been removed by 1995 (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
