The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the crest of the N-facing slope of a broad plateau. It is depicted as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a small subcircular field with a lane outside it NE-SE on the 1907 edition. It was described in 1968 (SMR file) as a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 38.2m NW-SE; 34.3m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (at W: Wth of base 2.4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) and hedge. There was no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. The hedge had been removed SE-W-NW by 2000 (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
