The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the crest of the SE-facing slope of a broad NE-SW ridge. This rath is depicted on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793) and on the 1834 and 1907 editions of the OS 6-inch map. it is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 39m E-W; 37.5m N-S) defined by a scarp (at S: Wth 2m; H 1.45m) and a hedge with slight traces of a bank (at S: Wth c. 2m; int. H 0.3m) S-SW, and an outer fosse (at S: Wth of base 0.8m; D 0.3m). There is a modern ramp entrance at S.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
