The National Monuments Service's description

: Located on the summit of a N-S drumlin ridge. This rath is depicted on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793), and on all editions of the OS 6-inch map. it is a subcircular overgrown area (dims 34m N-S; 28.5 E-W) that slopes down slightly to the E defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 4.5m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.6m) that is largely reduced to a scarp (at E: Wth 1.55m; H 1.75m), and traces of a silted fosse. There are entrances at N (Wth of top 2m) and E (Wth of top 4.5m).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
