The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the W shore of the subrectangular Drumreaske Lough (dims c. 200-230m N-S; c. 100m E-W at N to c. 220m E-W at S). This is an oval overgrown island (dims 15m E-W; 10m N-S) that is inaccessible from the land but its E edge has been eroded revealing evidence of three wooden platforms held in position by piles.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
