The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the NE shore of the tear-shaped Drumgoast Lough (max. dims c. 230m N-S; c. 130m E-W). This is an overgrown stony mound (dims 14m E-W; 12m N-S; H 0.5m) in low-lying, marshy ground.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
