The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a shoulder of the N-facing slope of a N-S drumlin ridge. A small rectangular enclosure is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and a small subcircular enclosure is shown on the 1907 edition. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in pasture except for a slight irregularity in the field bank at E. It is known locally as a 'fort' and, according to local reports, crosses have been found here.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
