The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a local rise of a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. It is depicted as a circular embanked enclosure described in gothic lettering as a 'fort' only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is a circular, slightly raised grass-covered area (diam. 36m) that slopes down slightly to the E and is defined by a scarp (max. H c. 1m). There is no visible fosse or indication of an entrance. The perimeter at N may be incorporated into an E-W field bank while it might be slightly truncated at E.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
