The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the crest of the SE-facing slope of a drumlin. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. c. 31m) that slopes down to the SE and is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 4.5m; Wth of top 1.6m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.45m) separated by a fosse (at NW: Wth of top 2m; Wth of base 1.3m; ext. D 0.55m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 2.5m; Wth of top 1.2m; ext. H 0.4-0.65m) with an outer drain that only exist S-W-N and are probably a modern field bank. There are several gaps in the bank but that at SSE (Wth of base 2.4m) is probably original, although there is no causeway.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
