The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on top of a drumlin. The central feature is a circular area (int. diam. 38m NNE-SSW: 36.6m WNW-ESE) that slopes down slightly to the ESE, which is defined by an earthen bank and an outer fosse. There is an entrance (Wth of base 2.3m) and causeway (Wth of top 3.6m) at ESE, the lowest point of the interior. The rath is within a larger enclosure (diam. c. 100-105m) designed as a landscape feature (MO001-006001-), which is defined by field banks with an entrance at S. Both the rath and the surrounding enclosure are in mixed woodland.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
