The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the S edge of a low ridge in a low-lying landscape. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 52m NNW-SSE; 50m ENE-WSW) that slopes down to the NE-SE (H 1-2m). It is defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 5-6m; int. H 0.3m at NE to 0.8m at SW) and hedge with an outer fosse (Wth of top 7-9m; Wth of base 3-m; ext. D 0.3-0.8m). There is an outer bank (Wth of base 4m; ext. H 0.4m) ESE-SSW only. There is a wide gap in the inner bank at ESE but a partly stone-lined entrance (Wth of base 2.3m) without a causeway at NNE is more likely to be the original entrance.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
