The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on an undulating landscape. Archaeological testing (04E0556) identified a number of features that have straight sides and flat bottoms cut into the subsoil. They are generally filled with silty clays with some small stones and small quantities of animal bone. At one point a circular pit (diam. 1.48m N-S; 1.36m E-W; max. D 0.37m) was filled with a grey brown silty clay with some stones and flecks of charcoal but it also had a deposit of cremated bone. At another point a relict NW-SE drainage ditch (Wth of top 3.3m; D 0.45m) filled with grey/brown silty sandy clay was sampled. It is possible that other pit-burials are in the vicinity but the development was redesigned and monitoring of further works avoided the known features and no others were encountered.
