The National Monuments Service's description
There were two mills on the N side of the burial ground. Northern mill 1 consisted of a headrace (L 12m; Wth 1.4m; D 0.66m) approaching from the NW (L 120m plus), and a deeper mill undercroft (dims 11.8m x 3.2-6.5m; D 0.5-1m) that merges into the tailrace. A charcoal sample from the bottom of the tailrace produced a C14 date of 870-1020 cal. AD (Seaver 2009, vol. 1, 85-7). Ten postholes set in hill-washed soils in a confined area (dims 7m NW-SE; 3m NE-SW) in Phase 3 are just S of the Northern mill 1 and may have played a role in relation to it but the form of the structure is uncertain. (ibid. 66, 85-7)
