The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the N edge of a plateau. The church of Ardanew (ME042-012----) is within a field system defined by silted drains (Wth of top c. 8m; Wth of base c.3-4m; D 0.5m) forming rectangular fields (dims c. 100m N-S; c. 30-40m E-W) depending from a NW-SE drain c. 30m from the S side of the graveyard which curves around the W side of the graveyard. The fields cover an area of about 10 acres (c. 4 ha).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
