The National Monuments Service's description
A graveslab commemorating the Barnwell family was recorded by Sir William Bethan at Crickstown. He was a member of the Royal Irish Academy and died in 1853. The inscription is in Latin and the only dates recorded are 1624 and 1679 (Mahony 1910). The original stone does not survive, but a replacement inscription in polished Wicklow granite was provided by the Barnwall families of Australia in 1998 and this is set up inside the E window. Mahony's note is as follows:
The inscription given below has been copied from a document among the late Sir William Bethan’s papers, now in the British Museum. It is docketed ‘Additional MSS. 23685’.
"D. O. M. / IN MEMORIAM PATRICII BARNWALL DE CRICKS- / TOUN, EQUITIS; ET MARGAROTAE UXORIS EJUS, / FILIAE PATRICII BARNWALL DE FIELDSTOUN, / EQUITIS, EX ANNA LUTTERELL UXORE EJUS.
RICHARDI BARNEWALL, ARMIGERI, PATRICII PRAE- / DICTI EX MARGARET PRAEDICATA FILII; ET ELIZA- / BETHAE UXORIS EJUS, FILIAE OLIVERI PLUNKETT DE / RATHMORE EQUITIS, EX ELIZABETHA CUSACK UXORE / EJUS.

A rough translation could be:
In memory of Patrick Barnwall of Crickstown, knight; and Margaret his wife, a daughter of Patrick Barnwall of Fieldstown, knight, with Anna Lutterell, his wife.
Richard Barnwall, Knight, a son of this Patrick and Margaret, and Elizabeth, his wife, who is a daughter of Oliver Plunkett of Rarthmore, Knight, and Elizabeth Cusack, his wife.
Patrick Barnwall, Baronet, a son of the fore-mentioned Richard and Elizabeth, who died 21 June, 1624, and Catherine Fleming, his wife, a daughter of the 17th Baron of Slane and Eleonora FitzGerald, his wife.
Richard Barnwall, Baronet, a son of the fore-mentioned Catherine, who died 6 July, 1679, and Julia, his wife, a daughter of Gerald Aylmer of Donadea, Baronet, and Julia Nugent, his wife.
Patrick Barnwall of Crickstown, Baronet, and John Barnwall, Knight, made this for their parents, Richard and Julia.
