The National Monuments Service's description

In Area B Enclosure 10 (dims 25m N-S; 17m E-W) functioned as an annexe on the E side of Enclosure 1 during Phase 1 in the late sixth century. Initially it was defined by a slightly curving fosse (L 27m; Wth 0.85m; D 0.6m) at its E side. This was replaced by L-shaped fosses at N (Wth 0.95m; D 0.37m) and S (Wth 0.9m; D 0.47m) with a small gap (Wth c. 0.5m) between them. The annexe is just S of the entrance area of Enclosure 1, and there is a wide entrance gap (Wth c. 5m) between its fosse and that of Enclosure 1 at N. The ditches contained animal bone and charred oats, barley and wheat, and they enclosed Structure D that may have been associated with non-ferrous metal-working. (O’Hara 2009, 18; 2009a)
