The National Monuments Service's description

This (70) figure-of-eight kiln (dims 2.12m E-W; 0.86m N-S) is in the central area c. 25m NE of the central barrow (ME038-071001-). Its E end (max. D 0.11m) had been cut through a N-S drain but the W end (max. D 0.46m) survived better. The basal layer was a thin charcoal-rich layer with cereal grains and a sample of cherry from it produced a C14 date of 551-659 cal. AD (BETA 241300). The two upper layers contained less charcoal but did include some animal bone. (Rathbone 2009, 21)
