The National Monuments Service's description

The ward of the castle provided space for various buildings or structures, dating largely to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, but a precise date cannot be provided in most instances. A building (dims c. 14.5m E-W; 12m N-S) which is known as the smaller hall was built to the SE of the Great Hall but on a slightly different alignment. It had three aisles and the bases of five of its six piers are recorded. However, as the floor was a suspended one no occupation material is associated with it and absolute dates cannot be ascribed to it but its use would date to the later fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. None of this hall is preserved. (Hayden 2011, 250-51)
