The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a S-facing slope and on the NW side of Main Street. An archaeological rescue excavation and watching brief (E000404) in 1987 uncovered evidence of a medieval building (ME036-048046-) and other features. In the course of the watching brief a builder’s trench cut a large medieval pit (dims c. 3.5m x 1.5m plus; D 1.5m plus) with steeply sloping sides at the NW edge of the development site. The pit was filled with yellow clays leavened with dark organic layers and it cut through stratified medieval layers which were beneath a substantial NE-SW wall (ME036-048050-). (Walsh 1990-91, 45)
