The National Monuments Service's description
Located just NE of the summit of a hillock in an undulating landscape. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 44m WNW-ESE; 40.5m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 3-4.5m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.7-1.1m) with some bushes separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 7.5-9m; Wth of base 2-4; ext. D 1.2-1.9) from an outer earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 6m; ext. H 0.3m), which is particularly massive where it is incorporated into a field bank W-N. A straight NW-SE field bank (Wth of base 5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.4m) with a ditch ext. Wth of top 1.5m; D 0.5m) on the SW side cuts through the outer face of the outer bank at NE. The interior is uneven, probably from old quarries, and the original entrance is not identified.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
