The National Monuments Service's description
Located on top of an E-W ridge in a gently undulating, low-lying landscape. This is a rectangular grass-covered area (dims 40m ENE-WSW; 20m NNW-SSE) that slopes down to the E. It is defined by flat-topped earthen banks (Wth of base c. 3m; max. int. H 1m) separated by fosses or moats (at S: Wth of top c. 4m; Wth of base 2.4m; int. D 2.4m) from outer earthen banks (max. ext. dims c. 55m E-W; c. 50m NNW-SSE). At the centre is a rectangular house site (dims 7m E-W; 5m N-S) defined by low earthen banks. A NE-SW drain and field bank truncate the SE angle of the monument.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
