The National Monuments Service's description

Fifteen house sites dating to the tenth - eleventh centuries AD have been recovered in excavation of the upper levels of the passage tomb mound. This is medieval house 13 situated at the SSW edge of the summit of the great mound and built over the fill of the upper fosse of the rath. The house was preceded by 10 hearths set in pits, 5 in the area of the house, in a brown stony layer of the fill of the fosse. House 13 was not fully excavated but the exposed part was a paved area (dims 5.2m E-W; 4.1m N-S) with an associated hearth and some post-holes, covered by a compact brown earth flecked with charcoal. Copper alloy wire and a mount, a door-handle, jet bracelets, stick-pins and combs were amongst the artefacts recovered. (Eogan 2012, 148-51)
