The National Monuments Service's description

Located on top of a short WNW-ESE ridge (L c. 450m). This is a rectangular grass-covered area (dims 41m WNW-ESE; 31.5m NNE-SSW) defined by earthen banks (at SW: Wth of base 11m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.8m; at NE: Wth of base 5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.5m) which can be distinguished from wide outer moats (at SW: Wth of top 7.5m; Wth of base 4m; int. D 1.3m; ext. D 0.9m; at NE: Wth of top 5.5m; int. D 0.8m; ext. D 1m) on each side, with field banks outside the moats at S and W. There is no internal bank on the W side and there is an entrance gap and traces of a causeway towards the S end of the E side. Old grass-covered trenches and spoil mounds are inside the banks at E and S.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
