The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a rectangular feature (ext. dims c. 60m N-S; c. 35m E-W) described as a ‘Fort’ and with an oval feature (dims c. 40m N-S; 20m E-W) in the centre on the 1836 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as a circular hachured feature (ext. diam. c. 35-40m) on the 25-inch map. This is a grass-covered area shaped like SE quadrant of circle (dims 37m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by scarps. A burial was found where a modern E-W field bank crosses the site, which is probably a rath, although it has been classified as a possible church site (Moore 1987, 142, No. 1473).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
