The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the N end of a slight N-S ridge in an undulating landscape. This is a raised rectangular and grass-covered area (dims 40m N-S; 36m E-W) defined by earthen banks (Wth of base c. 5-6m; int. H c. 0.5m; ext. H c. 1.5m) and outer flat-bottomed fosses or moats (Wth of top c. 6m; Wth of base c. 3m; ext. D c. 1m) with slight traces of outer banks. There is an entrance, evident as a causeway, at the centre of the N side. There is a house site (dims c. 14m E-W; 5.5m N-S) in the NW angle and two house sites touching end to end and aligned E-W just S of the centre. The houses are defined by low earth and stone walls. The W house (dims 13m E-W; 6m N-S) has entrances at the centre of its long walls. The E house (dims 12m E-W; 6m N-S) has no evidence of an entrance.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
