The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a rise towards the bottom of the SW-facing slope of the ENE-WSW ridge of Slieve na Calliagh. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 44m NE-SW; 42m NW-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 4-5m; int. H 0.5-0.6m; ext. H 0.7-1m) with some bushes separated by a break of slope or a berm (at SE: Wth 1m) from a fosse (Wth of top 3.3m at SE to 6.6m at NW; Wth of base 1-2m) from an outer earthen bank (at SE: Wth of base 6.5m; ext. H 1.5m). The original entrance through the inner (Wth of base 1.1m) and outer (Wth of base 2.5m) banks with a causeway (Wth of top 4.3m; h 0.45m) is at SSE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
