The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the tip of a short S-N spur from a plateau to the S with the ground falling away steeply W-N-E. A circular wooded enclosure (diam. c. 50m) is depicted on the 1836 and 1908 editions of the OS 6-inch map. It was described in 1969 (SMR file) as a circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 50m E-W; 49m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at ENE: Wth of base 3.8m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.2m) that had and outer stone facing NNE-E-SW. There was no evidence of trees or of an outer ditch and an entrance was not recognised. Just NW of the centre was the foundations of a two-roomed structure (dims 11.4m NE-SW; 5.4-7.3m NW-SE, crest to crest) defined by slight banks (Wth 1.9m; H 0.2-0.35m) but an entrance doorway was not identified.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
