The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a rise in a gently undulating landscape. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 38m NNE-SSW; 36.6m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank (at W: Wth of base 8.7m; int. H 1.4m; ext. 2.3m; at SW: Wth of base 12m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 2.3m) that has been removed E-SE, and with sight traces of an outer fosse S-W-NNE. The entrance is not identified and must have been at SE. There is local information that a souterrain in the SW quadrant was uncovered in the 1980s and closed in, and there is evidence of collapse in this area.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
