The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a slight NW-SE ridge which is on a S-facing slope with a canalised NW-SE stream immediately to the NE. It is described as ‘Cloghmacoo Fort’ on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a raised circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 37.5m NNE-SSW; 35m WNW-ESE) defined by a grass and scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth of base 6-9m; int. H 0.5-1.2m; ext. H 3-3.2m) and an outer fosse (Wth of top 8-9.5m; Wth of base 1.3-2m; ext. D 0.4m at E to 1.3m at W), and a slight outer bank (Wth of base 4.6m; ext. H 0.4m) E-SSE. The original entrance (Wth of base 1.9m) and causeway (Wth of top 2.7m; H 0.8m) are at SSE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
